In today’s tuesday class, I experimented with using the ToonBoom software, trying to famliarise myself with the interface. I also aimed to finish a 2D conceptualisation shot of an example scene, to gauge if I can recreate the visuals I want and to see if I can realistically achieve the same for the other scenes, in both time and effort.
In practice, I found a brush that was more comfortable for me to use though I probably won’t use it for lineart- if I wish to achieve a sort of clean, anime style effect, rather than my own art style.
I was a bit confused when I was trying to do some simple colouring, as can be seen in the drawing above. The problem I faced was my unfamiliar and awkward feeling of having to create multiple palettes/colour layers if I wish to separate and actually use different colours in my drawing. The advantage of this mechanic is that I can easily swap the colours out, the disadvantage (in my opinion) is, again the layers, and also the fact that I would need to install ToonBoom Harmony on my laptop if I wish to work using this software.
