[WEEK 12] Review

Wednesday (Studio): I didn’t progress much on work for capstone this week as I have been busy working on Theory. The deadline for submission is this Friday, so I am feeling stressed and starting to feel burnt out with the work so far. I wasn’t expecting to have another one-on-one with Jason today, but to my surprise I learnt something new. Jason gave me some more feedback on how I could refine my animatic more, focusing on improving scenes with cuts- show my character’s thoughts and expressions more. I could remove some unnecessary shots, and rework some shots to be more understandable to the audience as they have unclear elements, such as poor posing, lack of environment, lack of continuity, etc. While I did find this useful, it makes me think as to where I should draw the line in setting the quality that I wish to hand in for the Pre production, as well as the quality of my other work?


Realistically speaking, there is always something to improve on, and while it is ambitious to finish everything considered as part of the Pre production stage I am lacking in experience, skill and time to accomplish so; I should remember that I am doing a studio team’s worth of roles and effort. There is a lot of pressure in trying to finish the workload, moreso in time in accordance with deadlines and the work schedule. I even planned to develop some practical tests around accomplishing certain shots, workflow, ideas, etc, not to mention that there is my internship work to finish as well. There is a lot of work, but I think it would be great to prepare at least a bare minimum of quality of everything considered essential.


[Stuff to work on for the full Pre Production package]:

  • 3D models of environments and objects

  • New moodboards [in progress]

  • New script

  • Updated logline, tagline and outline boards

  • Concept art/sketches

  • Character Reference Sheet
