I had a lot of fun with doing the research and work for the idea I have at the moment. The assignment this year gives a lot of freedom, particularly with the choice of working on something that is purely original, stemming from personal ideas; the details and aspect of the work is determined wholly by myself.
Looking into the research regarding my initial questions is fascinating as a topic, and the idea of applying this into visual animation motivates me in my plan of creating dynamic action sequences and unique concepts and ideas.
There have been a lot of problems and setbacks, of course, with deciding the approach to the story, to A story. This links to how the time limit is set between 60-90 seconds. The constraint is understandable in its own right to ensure quality and completion, though it reminds me of my struggles in not being able to fluidly display the idea I had in mind through animation. I aim to make up for this and achieve that goal this year.
As such I will be throwing out as much ideas and concepts as I can as a starting point. The goal is to produce any and all potential ideas that I can come up with, before I become constrained from looking at what research and considerations I need to further develop the work later on. I do admit that this motivates me as much as how exhausting and sometimes contradicting it could be. An example would be how my attachment to my initial concepts limit how I could explore the story I would use in my work; I would be stubborn and narrow-minded by trying to find a way to incorporate them into the story. My current feelings towards this is being satisfied, though as a process of exploration I should try to develop different stories, loglines and ideas.
It is also important to focus more on developing a strong and clear foundation in terms of research question and narrative before I go straight ahead to the visuals.
